An inspection report doesn't only tell you whether to buy the car. Used well, it's evidence you can take back to the seller. Green Bean Auto customers have saved an average of $621 on the asking price.
Sort the findings
Put a cost on it
Get a rough cost for the significant items. Your inspector can explain what each finding means and how urgent it is. A specific repair cost is far more persuasive than a general comment that the car needs work.
Make your offer
Share the relevant parts of the report with the seller and explain your offer. Most private sellers and dealers will negotiate when a problem is documented with photos. Alternatively, ask the seller to fix the issues before you buy, and confirm the repair has been done.
Know when to walk away
Some findings, such as signs of major accident repairs, flood damage or serious engine or transmission problems, aren't worth negotiating over. The inspection has done its job if it stops you buying the wrong car.
