Suspension and Steering Repairs Newcastle
These days the number of linkages, balljoints and springs used to control your cars suspension and steering really is quite impressive. So too is how it all works together to keep you safe! But time and the many 1000’s of kilometres travelled can bring their happy little union to an end.
Throw in the mix some unseen potholes, knocked gutters whilst reverse parking, and countless speed humps, you may be in for a bumpy or noisy ride… or even worse an unsafe car!
So, if you feel like your car’s steering and suspension just isn’t as sharp as it used to be. Or if there’s some mystery noise coming from beneath the floor, then why not book your next suspension and steering service or repair with one of our fully qualified technicians at Green Bean Auto?
Your suspension. How does it work exactly?
Your car’s suspension includes a series of links, joints, springs, and shock absorbers. These come together to keep your car handling safely, predictably and comfortably on all types of terrain.
Your car’s suspension consists of three main components:
- Springs – to iron out the countless bumps you encounter on the road.
- Shock absorbers – to stop you bouncing along like you are on a pogo-stick.
- Linkages – to keep it all aligned and working together harmoniously.
Your steering. How does it work exactly?
The steering system on your car works by transferring the rotation of your steering wheel onto a horizontal steering rack, and then onto the car’s steering arms at either end of the rack.
The steering arms and their linkages then transfer this movement to the front wheels and in-turn (excuse the pun) change the direction they are facing. In simpler terms, a car will always travel in the direction its front wheels are facing.
